 SEO means search engine optimization.

First of all lets discuss what is digital marketing.

As  it is combination of two words Digital and Marketing. Its clear that Digital refers to digital mediums like social media, Search Engines and other digital platforms. And on other side , Marketing refers to promotion of brands or website. 

So Digital Marketing means promotion of brands and websites on digitals mediums like Google, Social Media and many more.

Now lets move to SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

What is SEO (Search Engine Optimization) In Digital Marketing

Search Engine Optimization is combination of three words, Search , Engine, and Optimization.
Search Engine Combined refer to Engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and many more, where we can search anything.

Optimization means boost your website and make your website according to algorithm of search engines, to be ranked on them easily.
Search Engine Algorithm is actually factors , which they measure from a website to rank.
According to an Estimate, Google checks around 200+ factors to rank website.

In Digital Marketing, SEO is very important factor. As promotion on internet is not enough in digital marketing until website of brand or person is not optimized to reach in search result of targeted audience.

Targeted Audience means specific people, which a brand is focusing to bring on their site. For Example, A shoes Brand will target such Audience who are searching shoes and want to buy shoes. So they will Optimize their site in such a way that their site should reach on top results of those queries which are about shoes.

In simple words, In SEO you will Optimize Your site to rank on Search Engine on first page when someone will search related to your site.

Lets take an example, If you search on google "Buy Hosting" then the results you get from search are, shown below

In screenshot , First results are paid result which are preferred by google. In these results you can see written "ad". Means these website owner has paid for it. 

Google provide you such opportunity that you can get instant rank by getting Google Ad compaign. This is Good option if you want to get traffic in case if your brand is already famous and you want to catch audience by automatic google ranking system rather than working on Search Engine Optimization.

After Ads , website shown are organic result, which are optimized by fulfilling Google Algorithms.

Actually No one knows about google algorithm, all factors are guessed with time. If algorithm of search engines was live, then anyone could get rank on google for un useful content and google would be destroyed.

  • Off Page SEO
  • Technical SEO

On-Page SEO , as it is clear from the name that , in this type, we have to optimize website from on page.
Means we have to optimize
  • Content
  • Meta Title and Description
  • Website Layout
  • Keyword Research
  • Search console and Analytics 
  • Sitemaps and Robots.txt submission
  • Schema (Rich Snippest )
And many more factor which are included in On-Page SEO.

once , it was considered that on page seo consist of 30% seo but now it is said that on-page seo is 70% of total seo.



Off Page SEO

Off page seo basically means link building. Link building means build our website link on other sites. These are called backlinks.
There are many types of backlink.\

Types of backlinks


  • 1 natural links 
  • 2 manual outreach links (requested to sites)
  • 3 Non editorial links
  • 4 guest blogging
avoid getting no follow links and focus on do-follow links.
No-follow e.g commenting links on other sites which consider as spamming 

Characteristics of Backlinks 


  • linking domain matter in backlinks authority e.g domain age
  • backlink provider sites should be relevant
  • content based links (natural) These links are automatically generated due to your awesome content
  • guest blogging
  • link baiting (making enough content like listing)

 you should do competitor analysis about backlinks and follow their strategy.

paid links are dangerous we should go with natural links.
And one more point is links post on social media is not backlink.

Black hat Techniques


  • avoid link exchanges
  • avoid paid links
  • avoid private blog network (create fake blogs)

Technical SEO

Technical SEO means code errors resolve and other in depth HTML or any other language in which your site is generated , solutions.
Technical seo is actually Developer level work. So if you are at beginner level, then go with CMS (content management systems) like wordpress, Blogger, Joomla etc.

In legacy terms, there are three types of SEO (search engine Optimization)

  1. White Hat SEO
  2. Black Hat SEO
  3. Grey Hat SEO
You should always go with white hat seo techniques. Otherwise you will get penalty from search engines and your site would be banned.
